Three Ways to Support House Training

Provide frequent bathroom opportunities suited to the individual puppy, including after waking, meals, drinking, and play. Reward the puppy promptly after it finishes in the intended place.

Supervise indoor access. A closely supervised leash, pen, or gate can help you notice signals and prevent wandering. Clean accidents and adjust the routine; punishment can make training harder.

Provide appropriate water access. Do not apply a blanket water-withholding rule to every dog. Ask your veterinarian about feeding, drinking, or toileting changes, especially frequent accidents, pain, or unusual thirst.
