In July 2021, Service Dog Standards announced tools for handlers and trainers, including team profiles and ways to organize training information.

Service Dog Standards works alongside the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as a voluntary educational framework. A profile, training record, public access test or registry membership does not create legal access rights. Businesses covered by the ADA cannot require a service-dog certificate or doctor's letter for entry.
