Uber and Lyft's U.S. service-animal policies prohibit denying a ride because a passenger uses a service animal. Review the current policy for the service and country where you are traveling.
Both platforms offer optional ways to identify that you are traveling with a service animal. Choosing that feature is separate from the driver's obligation to accommodate a service animal; it is not service-dog certification.
Plan comfortable positioning and keep the dog under control. If a ride is refused or you experience another problem, save the trip details and use the platform's current service-animal support process.
Do not rely on an old article for menu locations, response deadlines, credits, wheelchair-vehicle availability or disciplinary outcomes. The former promises of a response within a week and an automatic credit have been removed.
