Keep puppy games short, rewarding and easy enough for the puppy to enjoy.
- Find a toy. Hide a familiar toy in an easy location and reward exploration. Avoid essential oils and loose cotton swabs. A play search is not medical-alert or allergen-detection training.
- Bring an object. Begin with a safe toy, reward a small pickup or movement toward you and gradually teach a comfortable return.
- Join familiar steps. Combine two easy learned behaviors, such as a hand target followed by going to a mat, with rewards between steps as needed.
Stop when the puppy is tired or frustrated. The original diabetic-alert sequence has been removed: medical tasks require an individual plan and do not replace monitoring or prescribed treatment.
